About CT FAIR Plan | Privacy Policy | Producer's Authority

Effective January 2009: All Connecticut FAIR Plan DP-1 policies that cover dwellings located within 2600' of the Connecticut shoreline will have two deductibles. There will be a deductible for named perils and a separate deductible that applies in the event of direct physical loss to property covered under the policy caused directly or indirectly by windstorm associated with a declared hurricane. The amount of the hurricane deductible is 5% of the building coverage (Coverage A). The dollar amount for this deductible is shown on the quotation and the policy declarations page. A disclosure notice and a copy of the endorsement will be mailed with all applicable renewal quotations. A copy of this Hurricane Deductible endorsement (CFP-HUR-8-07) is available on this website by clicking HERE.

July 2008: The Coastal Market Assistance Program (C-MAP) has been created to assist homeowners living in Connecticut coastal areas who have been unable to obtain insurance. C-MAP was created by the Insurance Companies that write homeowners insurance in Connecticut under the authorization of the Connecticut Insurance Department and is administered by the Connecticut FAIR Plan.

Applicants to C-MAP must go to a producer or agent to assist them in all insurance transactions.

June 2006: Liability coverage is now available on 1 to 3 family dwellings that are vacant/unoccupied and under renovation, subject to inspection. Vandalism and Malicious Mischief coverage is also available on dwellings and commercial property that are vacant/unoccupied under renovation – however, it is very expensive because of the vacancy.

February 2006: We no longer require the ‘original’ application, if an application is faxed to us. However, the faxed application must still be complete and it must be signed by the applicant.

Animal Bites -

Effective 1/1/04, we have the 'Animal Liability Exclusion Endorsement' that allows us to provide liability coverage but exclude any animal(s) that has bitten and is still on the premises. An 'Acknowledgement of Exclusion of Animal Liability Coverage' Form must be completed and signed by the Applicant/Insured before we can add this endorsement.

As of January 2004, we no longer accept applications (new or renewal) without an agent. We are advising all applicants to seek assistance from any insurance agent who is licensed in Connecticut for property insurance.

Third Party Notification forms are being mailed with every new and renewal policy. This form allows any insured who is 55 years or older to designate a third party to receive cancellations and non-renewal notices.

We cannot transfer coverage by endorsement from one insured to another (due to the Patriot's Act). A new application, quotation and policy are required.

The FAIR Plan has adopted the new ACORD 66 CT Application to be used for all new business submissions. We will still accept our Form #10 Application for Basic Property & Liability Insurance while supplies last.

Our Corporate Questionnaire and Vacancy Questionnaire are still required, where applicable, on all applications.

We do not write schedules (unless 2 or more buildings are on the same lot). This is due to the new Limited Fungi, Wet or Dry Rot, or Bacteria Coverage endorsements that limit coverage per policy. Schedules provide less coverage.
